A Mushroom Sauce Recipe for Steaks

Mushroom sauce is great when paired with any steak recipe. This mushroom sauce recipe is just what you need. It’s simple and quick. Follow this recipe for a great mouth watering sauce for your steak.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 7 ounces of Swiss brown mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 ounces grams shiitake mushrooms sliced
  • ½ tablespoon of balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup beef or chicken stock
  • 1 teaspoon corn flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt & ground black pepper, to taste

Directions

Take a medium-sized frying pan. Add olive oil and heat it over high heat. Add mushrooms and stir constantly. Cook for about 6 minutes or until they become soft and tender.

Add balsamic vinegar. Toss and mix the mushrooms well. Cook for one minute.

Take a mixing bowl. Add stock, corn flour and brown sugar. Whisk well. Pour mixture into the frying pan. Bring everything to a boil, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens slightly.

Add thyme to the sauce, stirring at the same time. Flavor the sauce well with salt and pepper according to taste.

Tips

This can also be served with beef, chicken or duck. You can enhance the flavor by adding more balsamic vinegar or brown sugar according to taste. Picture credits go to pittaya.
